Warner Bros. has officially announced that the upcoming Batgirl movie has been cancelled due to "a strategic shift."
The film was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and it was supposed to come out this year. It stars Leslie Grace, J.K.
Simmons, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser. The movie was supposed to be shown on HBO Max only.
Now, Warner Bros has put the project on hold. The project was shot and was in post-production, at a cost of $90 million.
According to a statement released, the reason was not the quality of the performance, as had been rumored.
The decision to not release Batgirl was a difficult one, but it reflects our leadership's strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max.
